Folio Plague

Would anyone care to educate me on the most interesting read about the Great Plague in Europe? I like non-fiction and historical fiction. Would also like advice on the French Revolution. It seems like Folio offers a lot of choices and I would like to obtain some. Thanks in advance,

Barbara Tuchman wrote a 700+ page history of 14th century Europe called “A Distant Mirror: The Calamitous 14th Century.” My copy is a very nice leatherbound first edition from Franklin Library to which has been added a generous helping of both color and b&w illustrations. I don’t know whether Folio has done one or not. She is a good writer, and much of it deals with the plague and it’s aftermath.

Did the French have a dispute? I hope no one was hurt.

>2 jroger1: In 1997 in a 2-volume slipcase with The March of Folly with the combined title "Mirror of the Past", both in black buckram with something on the front cover :) It has the standard color illustrations from the trade editions plus 4 maps specially created for Folio.

>1 jfkf: FS did a copy of Philip Ziegler’s The Black Death, which I read at the beginning of the pandemic and found pretty interesting, although it can be dry at times.

The FS version of Citizens by Simon Schama is about French Revolution, and is beautiful, though I haven’t read my copy yet, so can’t speak to the text itself (though it is highly rated on Amazon and was a best-seller). They also did a copy of Carlisle’s The French Revolution.

The Journal of the Terror is an old FS publication, but fascinating, beautifully presented and reasonably priced on the secondary market.
