Hi All! We're very pleased to launch our April Early Reviewers batch!
The batch this month contains 175 titles, with 3,915 copies.
This month we've got the new Dan Chaon novel from Henry Holt, and we welcome two new publisher participants: Maine-based IslandPort Press with the memoir The Ghosts of Walter Crockett, and the HarperCollins-distributed Delphinium Books with Maybe It's Me: On Being the Wrong Kind of Woman.
So, which books are you hoping to win? https://www.librarything.com/ner

Sadly i only put 2 requests in for this batch, not as great a selection as i expected or maybe its cause of my reading style?! Who knows!!

I don't see anything I want, but I do want to say that I'm glad to see there are more actual printed books than has recently been the case.

mmmm Dan Chaon. That's my only pick.

I found three that intrigued me. One is a new book in a favorite series, one is from an author I've been wanting to try, and one just looks intriguing.

Is it possible to filter out one genre? I would really like to not have to wade through all of the religion & spirituality books.
Side note: is it just me, or are there SO MANY more religion and spirituality books these last two batches?

>6 lemontwist: Same! I didn't notice it last month but I *definitely* noticed this month.

I think someone wanted this also and did an RSI about it. I agree that sometimes it's easier to ID what you don't want rather than what you do.

The Religion & Spirituality books (20 with the label and the three that seem to be missing it) make up at least 12% of the batch, which doesn't look like much overall.
I suspect what's uncomfortable this time is that some of these books are cross-listed in genres where their making up a higher percentage than that feels... pointed... because of what's happening in the larger world of publishing and politics.
I mean, I felt it, too. This month's batch helped me better understand the call for an exclusion option.

I think most of you are already aware, but for those who didn't see the recent announcement, you can now exclude specific genres, when looking at a monthly ER batch (https://www.librarything.com/ner). The Exclude Genres button is now at the top of your screen, along with the other filtering buttons.
The announcement about this can be found here: https://www.librarything.com/topic/341224.
