I am currently in the middle of the second story. I was surprised by the eloquence of the writing. And while Maqroll may be a cad, for some reason I was expecting something more along the lines of of a picturesque novel, more plodding and crude. I quite like it, but as my libraries don't have an ebook and it's too big for a subway reading, it's going to take a while to read!

I started this book last night and it's clearly going to be absolutely wonderful. But I find myself somehow not able to take on such a massive tome, comprised of seven separate books, when I am already gradually working through the 1600-page long Anniversaries for our other, year-long group read. It's just too daunting to be involved in two such huge, multi-book books at once. Since I now own The Adventures, I will simply put it aside and read it when I am done with Anniversaries. I suspect that I will enjoy it more than Anniversaries!
