Well, the first half of 2022 is over. What 1001 books are you reading at the start of the third quarter?

I was reading The Adventures and Misadventures of Maqroll for a Colombia themed month on Litsy and will continue reading it for this month's group read.

I have picked up Hell by Henri Barbusse.

I'm wrapping up Madame Bovary soon, and will start Adam Bede thereafter.

I finished Trainspotting, and at least I never need to read that again. Not my thing.

I just finished Inside Mister Enderby on audio. On paper, I'm doing my monthly dive into the huge world of Anniversaries. Once I'm over that I too will read Barbusse's Hell for the group challenge like >3 DeltaQueen50: although I believe that you wrote a review that was not exactly encouraging... But it's short!

>7 annamorphic: I will be watching for your comments on Hell, I was definitely wearing my cranky pants when I read it!

I'm still plugging away at The Goldfinch but definitely enjoying it!

Now I am listening to Call of the Wild on audio and reading Hell (Inferno) on paper and I must say that they are both absolutely awful! What terrible luck to have encountered them both at the same time. >8 DeltaQueen50: your review was if anything too kind. But as they say, at least both books are short!

I'm very slowly reading both The Adventures and Misadventures of Maqroll and Memoirs of My Nervous Illness, both published by nyrb.

Started The Diaries of Jane Somers a week or so ago. I like reading Lessing, but I also don't find myself getting engrossed in the book. Very easy to put down.
