I've tested this on multiple books: the barcode scanner doesn't pick up the barcode under normal lighting under almost any circumstance. When dramatically angling the camera, the scanner finally picked up a barcode... and told me that my copy of Unseen Academicals was a power drill.

Can you also go to your LT App's Account page and list or send a screenshot of the data source/s you're searching, and which ISBNs you're testing with? It's not uncommon that searching a 10-digit ISBN from Amazon, for example, will return power tools etc. It depends on what you're searching and from where.
