What was your final rating for the book? Why?

I give it 3.75. A good summer on the beach read. Only one great surprise, the destruction of the second city. I did not view this book as stay up all night page turner.

Hey Everyone. I'm not in a federal prison and neither is our attorney and my good friend. It was a close thing for him...but believe it or not, I just sat them and kept my mouth shut and handed him papers. We actually got an apology from the IRS...bet they haven't given out too many of them, and I don't think they particularly "enjoyed" handing out that one. They also bought us lunch. They were sent all the paperwork by our attorney when she died...all properly marked, signed, sealed and delivered. They actually said, "Everyone makes mistakes sometimes", which earned them a glare...which they ignored. All done, but I will still take that box of books, Lynda!

I did finish this book. I stayed a bit...well a lot...confused throughout the entire story. but that wasn't so much the fault of the book so I gave it a 3.5...probably should have just given it a 3, but Juan did keep me company and was ready to blow the place up for me if I asked him to.

I’ll give it a 3.5 as I miss Clive Cussler and found this book a bit dull and not as colorful as it would have been with Cussler’s writing.

I will give it 3.5 as well as I think the writer got a bit lost at times due to his love of the technology and there was not enough emphasis on the characters who seemed at times like devices so that he could describe some more exciting weapons or machines.

Overall I gave the book a 4. I enjoyed the book although I do feel it was much longer than it needed to be. I also felt too much was focussed on Juan, more than usual, and not enough on the rest of the team, and several times you actually had Juan excluding the rest of the team.

Like John puzzled how the second City came out of the ether at the end with no previous hints about this. Up to the last part of the book it would most probably have got 4.25 or 4.5. I feel Boyd Morrison should have been the one to take on the books as he had written with Cussler over a number of years.

I was disappointed with the book. Cussler never wrote any of the Oregon books by himself. Craig Dirgo coauthored Books 1 and 2, Jack du Brul coauthored Books 3-7, and Boyd Morrison coauthored Books 8-15. This was the first time I noticed a difference.

I'll give it 3 Stars and look forward to the next one to see if Maden returns to the formula.

A tough one to mark - he had big boots to fill…
I’m settling on 3.5★s this time, see if he can find his own boots for the next one. :)
