Is there a genre of fiction (or nonfiction) that is a guilty pleasure of yours?

Hmm ... nope, not guilty. ;) I'm a fantasy reader and writer.
I do feel guilty about not having read certain literary classics, though.

The only thing I usually feel guilty about reading is The Wife's US magazine (to use an old excuse, it's only for the articles!)...

I indulge in fluffy mysteries when the mood strikes. Also, I've read quite a few YA novels in the last few years (at 20 years older than the target audience).

Chinchilla grooming manuals.

I'm a science fiction and fantasy reader, whether "adult" or YA, without guilt. Also confess to a full collection of Georgette Heyer's romances without guilt. The guilt part is the full collection of Betty Neels and Essie Summers Harlequin romances accumulated in the 70s and early 80s. I have not read them for the last 15 years (really!) but I do feel them calling my name occasionally. If my TBR pile were not so huge, I might answer.

A few years ago I was reading online Buffy the Vampire Slayer fan fiction, most of it naughty and much of it irredeemably bad. I used it in my dissertation, but I (gulp) enjoyed reading it--or at least some of it.
