Wouldn't you just love to have been a fly on the wall?

"Obama dined Tuesday evening at the home of conservative columnist George Will in Chevy Chase, Md. That's according to a report of the press pool that travels with the president-elect.
Also in attendance was William Kristol, another prominent conservative and the editor at the Weekly Standard as well as a columnist for The New York Times. Joining Kristol were David Brooks of The New York Times and Charles Krauthammer of The Washington Post."

Okay, how can I be the only one who is excited about this? It means Obama is even more open-minded than I suspected! This is a good thing, right?

I am curious whether Rush Limbaugh attended? He hinted he was (a secret meeting in DC), but I can't imagine him and George Will supping together, much less Obama!

Somewhere I read that Limbaugh was not there. I don't know if he just wasn't invited, or if he refused to go.

I can't imagine George Will taking Rush Limbaugh seriously except as a know-nothing rabble-rouser he wishes would shut up and go away so the grown-ups can talk.

I hope George Will gave Obama hell about what he said about Cubs fans.

Is it true Obama and Ann Coulter were recently seen together at Le Cirque?

Tim, this is a serious thread.
:oP~
I can't imagine anyone with a conscience can take a word that woman (and I am using the word 'woman' loosely) says seriously.

Re > 11 and Limbaugh
Every year when I'm roaring down long westerrn highways in a rental car--great fun--I always tune in to Rush's show for long intervals to check out what other folks are thinking. A combination of self-mortification and information.
The main thing that strikes me is that he's getting old. Basically, he's an entertainer whose schtick has lost his click. It happens to most people in his business. How do you keep it sounding "fresh"?
Back in the Clinton years, he had a then-new nasty vibe that, even if it made you mad, didn't bore. He invited people who didn't like him on-air and it was openly confrontational.
Fast forward. These last few years, he's been hoarse and fading and surrounds himself with yes-men, and invites no contradiction. He holds forth without interruption like your old asshole uncle. It's boring.
If this Huffington link in >11 margd: is accurate, it sounds as if the Obama camp has been fairly canny in reading him.
