I just joined LT today, and I love it! I was looking for a group of children's book authors and this was one of the closest groups I found.

But I also created a more specific group in case there are others like me on LT. :) Please check it out if you're interested!

Yes, I've been writing children's books since i can remember. I am unpublished as of yet but we'll see after October.
I write young adult novels and try my hand at children's picture books.
I'll go check out your new group. It sounds very interesting.

I am a budding author as well. I am into children's picture books and juvenile fiction. Love it! My sister does the illustrating. Nice to hear that there is a budding author out there too.

I confess that I am sure there is a young adult book perculating away inside me. I've started voraciously reading them because I didn't read much as a child. It may take several years, but I know the right idea is waiting.

shwagirl, ophila, et al...

If you're at all serious about writing, I've got 2 things to tell you:
1) Don't wait. Write every day.
2) Get a copy of Stephen King's book On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft, and read it, and make notes.

I've been writing, a LOT over the past three years; and am almost finished with his book. Two separate statements there...

I'm not exactly sure what sort of audience I write for, but it's certainly not children, and I'm just toying around with the idea of getting published.
