Lest we all forget -- the LA Times Festival of Books is April 25 and 26, 2009. They should have the list of authors appearing listed in early March, and the list of panels and speakers will be put on in early April 2009. Here's the link to the site: http://www.latimes.com/extras/festivalofbooks/

I won't be attending this year, but have gone 3 or 4 times in the past. I usually go with friends and we make a weekend of it. Two days is not too long to spend there - -there are so many interesting authors and panels. I highly recommend it!

Last year I was able to go at the last minute and discovered that Warwicks was hosting two buses. I think the price was $50 and in addition to the trip they provided breakfast, a bag full of books and other goodies, and both directions there was a writer who spoke about their book/writing process. It was fun and painless. I'm hoping they'll do it again this year.

Now I'm dying to know what you thought of it.

BTW, CSpan2 always records several of the panels, and this year was no exception. They did two on Biographies, one History, one on Reading, and some others. I've recorded and watched most, but am looking forward to those I haven't watched yet. My wishlist is growing by the moment. They will also repeat those for the next month or so, so keep an eye on CSpan2 for the programs to repeat.

Just 3 more months until the next LATF0B! I didn't go last year, but I took the bus up the year before for my very first LATFoB...OMG, I was thrilled out of my mind and wanted to cry when it was time to get on the bus and go home at 5:00. I haven't felt that way since I was about 5 years old.

I'm looking forward to it this year!!! If I'm still employed, I'll have money to BUY STUFF and everything!

Who's excited? :-D

3 more weeks!!! Who's excited?! OK, I AM! I didn't go last year, but I'm going this year.

Am I the only one? If you're a bookaholic, you owe it to yourself to attend the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books at least once. It is a great weekend or day, depending on your length of stay. You're on the UCLA campus, you can get your people watching on, there's food, stuff to buy, live music...and of course, books and authors and readings everywhere. It is SO much fun.

3 more weekends!

Glad to hear that you're going. I'm unable to this year, but love, love, love the FOB. The panels are my favorite part -- so interesting. I'll be attending virtually by watching the CSpan coverage.

Once again, the LATFoB was great fun. Next year: the entire weekend.

WordMaven - - was there a particular author or panel you heard and enjoyed?

I enjoyed Writing the Other, which had 4 great writers on it all of various ethnic origins. Very colorful and lively. I missed Denise Hamilton at the end of the day. But that's OK. Next year: the whole weekend.

They had record attendance this year, 130,000+ over the weekend. It's such a great weekend.
