For this category, I might suggest: ( I did look at Wikipedia Portal:Geography)

.Travel Guides
..Various continents (Europe, Africa, Asia, North America, Latin America, Pacific Islands.)
...Various countries that make up the continent.
....Various sections of countries, (like states in the U.S.)
....City guides

.Maps and cartography
..Actual maps, broken down like the above (unless one wants to put maps in a media facet)
..Atlases (these are books and stored that way)
...Purely geographic atlases.
...Thematic atlases, (perhaps history atlases should go with history).
..Computer maps (the actual visual)
..Geographic Information Systems, books or manuals about.
..Charts (maps over water and coastlines)

.Human geography.
..Cultural geogaphy
..Demographics
..Urban geography
..perhaps political and economic geography should go under these subjects.

.Physical Geography - large descriptive works from a more geographic perspective. Geology, oceanography, biogeography, and climatology maybe belong under science

.Exploration - the more hisorical items.

.Popular reports of trips or visits.

.Population movements based on genetics and linguistic research.

"Human" geography?

I know that the kind of geography done by my friends who have masters and doctorates in geography doesn't have a lot to do with travel. More to do with sociology. So should that kind of thing go here or in a category under anthro/soc?

No, travel and geography aren't the same thing, but they're at least as closely related as, say, microbiology and astrophysics, both of which are lumped as Science.

Regarding human geography, I think the division between what gets put into what area is perspective. Obviously, most books in the social sciences which have some geography in them would stay with their prime subject and not geography. I don't think geography fits well under say sociology, (although social sciences, a term most do not like, would work), and it is close enough, particularly when you get into cartography, atlases and maps.
