I have just joined twitter to see what it was like and now it won't let me un-join so it looks as though I am stuck with it.

My twitter name is pinkozcat, the same as here.

Not any more. I've tried several times but that function has been temporarily disabled due to pressure on the site.

I joined because I teach computer to senior citizens and like to know something about these things in case I am asked. And now I can't get off again so I might as well make the most of it while I am there ...

At least it allows me to change my name. I started with my real name, intending to cancel forthwith but have changed to Minnie La Rose, one of my online names. Anyway, I am universally known online as pinkozcat so my friends will know who I am.

I think that I might have to get myself a blog for the same reason although it will be the most boring possible; currently I am confined to the house and immediate surroundings post-operatively and am getting stir crazy. Imagine the blog - "Bored; swept the floor"; "Dusted the table. Bored."

Scintilating reading ...

#4: Make up stuff. Or at least, exaggerate.

"Battling giant arachnids"
"Crossing the globe by dirigible"
"Having torrid love affair"
"Hacking the WTO website"
"Removing all prepositions from Ulysses"
"Reanimating corpses in my kitchen"
"Dressing cat as Ronald McDonald"

I did something like that a few years ago for a forum I used to visit but things got so complicated that I couldn't work out how to extricate my victims, and I gave it up. I have thought of going back to doing that but hadn't thought of doing it as a proper blog. Thank you for that ... :) Could be fun.

LOL - twitter has finally allowed me to de-register but gives out a message that I will need to change all my details including user name, real name, password, etc if I ever want to get my original account back.

So I have decided to keep it and just not use it; I can't be bothered to change everything just for a principle ...

I have changed all my info on twitter and deleted my account.

Don't forget to change your real name if you ever want to join again. I just checked and it costs $134 in NSW. Seems lot a lot of expense and trouble, just for a Twitter account.

It didn't cost me anything to join. I assume that the cost comes with texting which I don't do.

It is one of those sites where you can't actually see how it works unless you sign up but having done so the whole thing seemed totally pointless. Messages to the world in 140 characters ...

However, I changed all my details, real name - which wasn't my real name anyway, email address and password before I deleted the account.

Oh sorry, i misunderstood. I thought that you were required to change your real-life name before rejoining. The $134 is the fee charged by the Dept of Births, Deaths & Marriages, to register your new name.

I'm glad to learn that you don't have to go that far. It might have been perplexing for your real-life family & friends.
