If you home/library was on fire...what single book would you try and save? ultb or otherwise.
Me personally I would save my autographed copy Mona Lisa Overdrive. I doubt it is particularly valuable. But, it was one hell of a memorable road trip to get it.

I might save one of my (six) copies of The Door in the Grimming
I first got a copy at a library sale. The cover looked interesting, was the main thing in its favor. It sat on my shelf for quite a few years before I got around to reading it. Now it is one of my most favorite books, maybe my very favorite.

I would probably save my autographed limited edition copy of The Art of Science Fiction by Frank Kelly Freas. Although all the lovely artwork would remind me of the books and magazines I had lost.

No question - Kipling's Verse. The hardback one that I stole from my high school library (I got a paperback version since...doesn't have the same resonance). There are more stories per square inch in there than in anything else I've encountered, and it has history with me as well.
Though I'd be very sad to lose The Swiss Family Robinson with the cover torn off and mudstained from the car accident - the only book I own from before I was 12 (lost over 1000!).
And then there's Grandma's copy of Mother Goose's Complete Melodies - that one's a ultb, and has an inscription from my grandmother to me as well. But no, I think Kipling wins.
