I'm looking to read about Henry I (of England). Just finished watching David Starkey's Monarchy episode on that era. Two titles I found were:
Henry I by C. Warren Hollister
Henry I: King of England and Duke of Normandy by Judith A. Green
I don't mind a more academic focus, just looking for what people think would be informative.
Thanks.

Both of those are academic biographies by top scholars, but they're fairly different. Hollister's book is more thematic, with sections on administration, the economy, foreign policy, and so on, in common with all the Yale English Monarchs books. Hollister died before it was finished, and one of his students finished writing the last few chapters based on his notes and outlines. Green's book, on the other hand, is a narrative biography that goes chronologically through Henry's life (while covering most of the same material that Hollister does).
