Annie Proulx has several Wyoming Stories books. I plan to use the first one, Close Range, as my Wyoming book.

Another classic Western (see Montana) that has family ties for me is The Virginian by Owen Wister.

It was my grandmother's favorite book and I remember seeing her sitting in my Aunt's kitchen with her magnifying glass and her nose close to the book reading it for what would be the last time. My Dad was a great reader of classic westerns so several years ago I gave him a copy of the book for Christmas and I've now inherited it. Another book in my library I will be able to put into the "read" column!

This challenge is going to be fun--especially if I get a lot of the books from my own Library!

I'm reading Angels Fall by Nora Roberts right now, which is set in Wyoming.

Planning on reading Broken: A Love Story, by Lisa Jones, nonfiction, about a quadriplegic Araphao horse gentler on the Wind River Indian Reservation who also works with troubled youth. I had read excerpts from this book in the April 27, 2009, edition High Country News, and was very impressed with the beautiful writing. Book website: http://brokenalovestory.com/.

I read and enjoyed one of the above mentioned Proulx books, Fine just the way it is, for this challenge. Recommended!

C.J. Box has a whole mystery series written about a game warden in Wyoming ... Open Season is the first book

The Solace of Open Spaces by Gretel Ehrlich is a non-fiction series of short essays about a woman living alone in Wyoming ... very good and highly recommended

and of course John McPhee wrote probably my favorite Wyoming book ... Rising From the Plains ... but be warned, it's a geology book!!
