I`ve got some kind of `flu virus thingy today, so I`m probably not the best person to bring this up, but I notice we`ve not had any postings on Iran in this group.

Anyone got any views on the current situation ?

To get us started, here are a few sites people might find helpful ; I`m listing the three that I know of, not necessarily because I agree with their views, more to reflect a range of views ;

www.codir.net

www.hopoi.org

www.justiceforiranianworkers.org

As regards newspaper coverage, The Morning Star has printed two I found interesting - Shades of Grey by political editor John Haylett and Beyond the `Calm` on Iran`s Streets by Jane Green of Codir (www.morningstaronline.co.uk).

Not a paper I would normally read, but giving credit where it`s due, Weekly Worker issue 775 (25 June 2009) contains a very interesting article by Yassamine Mather of HOPOI, Beginning of The End, and a statement from a group called the Free Trade Union of Iranian Workers (which has actually appeared in a number of trade union periodicals). I don`t seem to have a note of the website address, but I`d think it`s easy enough to find online.

I visited a local Iran demonstration the other day and it was kind of interesting, though I almost vommited when an older man spoke to me referring to two 9-year-old kids there as "two more soldiers for the fight." I get most of my Iran news from Antiwar.com.
