Okay, we roll into week 2 (Sorry this post comes late. I had to change ages yesterday.Ick) and we are looking at having 1-5 of the novel written. Not perfected, not ready for everyone in the universe to fawn over, just written.

We press forward.

If you need help,post here!
If you see people asking for help, post support!

Oh, and realize that the completion lounge opens within the week.
(Someone on my buddy list on the site has 64K already. This doesn't mean anyone under 10K is in a bad place. Just taking their time ramping up.)

Chocolate, coffee, or any other stimulant needed is in the writer's lounge.
Come on, let's write!

Minor meltdown today. I am at 15k, but I'm having surgery on my right wrist in two days. With the prospect of losing several days of typing looming in the near future, I'm left wondering what the use is, considering how hideously boring my manuscript is. I thought about just stopping here and trying again next year. Fortunately, my brother talked me down, and I'm back to writing, hoping to put in a few thousand tonight and tomorrow.

Oh foggi, I am sorry to hear about your surgery but it seems like you were doing so well. Maybe the most interesting stuff is what happens in the second half of your novel.. . and maybe you can find a surrogate typist.

I've got half the word count as I should but I'm happy with the direction the novel is going. I just need the motivation to write, write, write. I always feel tapped out at 1000 words. But soldiering on just the same.

My novel is the most boring thing ever written. But who cares! Pressing on! Ugh.

I don't know lorin77 I think we could all have a most boring novel contest after it is done. I had a moment last night that I found myself repetitive and derivative but I am soldiering on as well.

Mine is boring and disorganized. Grrr. I think this may be the first year out of 4 that I don't make 50k by Nov. 30.

Marensr, I think I could get a special award for derivative. Its a specialty of mine, turns out.

I am still (barely) hitting my word count for the day, though its taking me about twice as long as it did last week. Part of the problem is that I had an outline last week - which was great! the writing just sailed by - until I wrote almost everything I had outlined. I thought that would take 30-40k words, not 15k! So now I can go back and fill in 15k of description, or I can soldier on and think of a new plot twist. I'm going with b - someone's going to try to kill my MC. I'll figure out if they succeed when I get there.

I'm loving mine. Not my writing, which needs work, particularly the word war segments, but I'm having a blast just being with my characters. Perhaps because I am besotted with my protagonist. Well, it's not by any means an Edward Cullen-type obsession, I don't want you to think that of me. But still.
I could use some organization. I'm writing all over the place. Thank goodness Scrivner can handle moving scenes around easily.

I've been ill for about four days, but still doing well enough. The probem is that now real life work has piled up as well. Ugh.

I've done something different for my 9th year -- writing three at the same time. I really thought I'd just start all three and see which one caught my attention. So far, they're all doing well enough, but soon I may focus in on one and just get one finished so I'm sure to have somthing I can count by the end of the month.

Good luck to the rest of you.

What's organization? I'm barely keeping up with the requirements right now, just writing what fits in the book as it comes to me. Not really pushing because the book doesn't feel right.

I almost gave up yesterday. I'm not behind in word count, I just haven't been enjoying my novel.

Then I sat back and said "what would make this more fun?" and wrote in a comic relief character. I may go back and edit him out later, but the little dose of humor brought me back to enjoying writing again.

Wow. I didn't mean to kill the thread with my post. I'm back in a bit of a groove and keeping up with the daily minimums. Can't believe we're scheduled to hit 30K today - that's 60% done!!!

I'm hoping to hit 30K today too. My protagonist woke me up at 3:30AM wanting to chat. He gave me 1000 words so I wasn't too upset. But now I'm drowsy.

How exciting, you guys with your 30k+ wordage! May I say congrats and that I'm only a wee bit jealous but mostly annoyed with myself for not being more self-disciplined this year.

Thanks to VictoriaPL and some great word wars we've indulged in, I at least broke the 10k mark the other day and am swiftly moving up on the 12k mark. (Sad, I know, but hey! We do what we can, right?)

I stayed home from work today, sick. Early on I had the notion that maybe I would get some writing in, but nope. I did nap, which is always nice. I'm still stuck at 25k.

I needed a pick-me-up this morning, feeling a little unmotivated. My husband showed me this NaNoWriMo song so I thought I'd pass it along. Check it out:
