I recently read Moscow Circles (or Moscow to the End of the Line) by Benedict Erofeev (or Venedikt Erofeyev). I thought it was quite haunting. Any thoughts on this book?

You probably won't see this response (almost six years late!), but in case anyone else is interested, by all means read this book -- it's practically a bible to Russians who grew up in the last decades of the Soviet Union, and it's an irresistible combination of religious/romantic angst and drunken merriment. (It's also an anthology of quotes from, references to, and jokes about Russian literature, but that aspect won't mean as much to non-Russians.) Highly recommended.

Thanks! Six years later, although I no longer remember too many details about this book, I still remember its spirit. Very interesting to get this information, even now!
