I'm excited about a new library but the architecture is ugly. What's up with that dome anyway? Architects just get crazy when it's time to design libraries.

I like it. Quigley is a modernist who blends his work with its surroundings-check out the Solano AMTRAK station. The dome is a nod to Balboa Park given that the library is on the bay-to-park link.
