This non-profit shop is by far the best used book store in the Auburn-Opelika area. The Gnu's Room has a well organized collection that includes many volumes from Auburn University faculty's private collections.
Founded in the 1990s by Bill Sherling, the store was purchased by Tina Tatum in 2007. To keep the independent store going, she converted it to a non-profit organization. Supporters organized a Kickstarter campaign in 2013 to keep the Gnu's Room open. Also in 2013, the Gnu's Room moved from its original location on Gay Street in Auburn to its current location in Opelika.
The annual Gnu Music Festival, held in early June in Opelika, benefits the store and other local charities. http://www.gnumusicfest.com/ - Toegevoegd door
