Founded in 1994, Frugal Muse Books is a small, independently owned chain of bookstores serving Madison, Wisconsin, and Suburban Chicago. We routinely buy gently used books, music, movies and videogames from the public and resell them at reduced prices, while also featuring many discounted brand-new books throughout our spacious stores. Our mission is to provide a vehicle for recycling peoples’ gently used media for resale at unbeatable prices.

Opened October 15, 2000, our Darien, Illinois, store features 7,000 square feet of merchandise, including a giant $1.00 bargain wall of overstock gems and two big children's rooms full of treasures for kids of all ages. If we can't find what you're looking for in our store, we can order most books in print for 25% off. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will always go the extra mile to help you find that certain book, CD, movie, etc., even if that means referring you to another store or website. Our promise is to get the item you want in your hands if at all possible, and to ensure that your experience in our store is a pleasant one.

We truly appreciate our customers' patronage and friendship over the years, without which our success would ring quite hollow indeed. Here's to many more years of recycling all those wonderful books, movies and music that we all cherish so much!
