The First McGill Library was a volunteer effort started in 1927 by Grace McGill and Col. Brown. The Present building opened in 2001.

City Archives
The Archives occupies a 4,000-square-foot space adjacent to the Library. It operates as the official repository of Burnaby's municipal records, containing records dating back to Burnaby's incorporation in 1892.
