The Northwest Regional Library is one of 19 locations in the Maricopa County Library District (MCLD). Located in the Surprise Recreation Complex, thec 23,000-sq. ft. Regional Library has a collection of over 40,000 items in all formats and offers over 60 Internet-accessible computers throughout the building. It is a model of the latest technology in the library and information field in terms of customer service with self-checkout and self-check in. The facility features a special teen area, magazines, newspapers, a popular Best-Seller Browsing section for casual reading, and a comfortable reading area with a gorgeous view of the lake and park included in the recreation complex. Beverages and snacks are also available.

Each year, MCLD holds more than 6,500 free events for all ages. We run a summer reading program for more than 75,000 people, and an annual "food for fines" program that accepts non-perishable foods for local pantries in lieu of collecting overdue fines. We seek to inspire curiosity, to encourage discovery and exploration, and to help residents re-engage with their community.
