Harrogate International Festival returns this July with a bigger and better line up than ever before. With an exciting programme of events ranging from classical to jazz, literature to science, plus a brand new Children’s Festival, a giant Festival Big Screen and an eclectic Fringe Festival, 2011 promises to be our best year yet.

For over 40 years music of all kinds has remained at the heart of our activities each summer, with this year’s highlights including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, jazz legend Clare Teal, Andras Schiff, and the quirky Paloma Faith. Since 2003, this calendar has been augmented by the critical successes of the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival – the biggest and best event of its kind in Europe. Taking place July 21st-24th, this year’s special guests include Dennis Lehane, Lee Child, Martina Cole, Tess Gerritsen, Linwood Barclay and Howard Marks.

New for 2011, the Children’s Festival (July 9th-10th) will be held in an amazing Papakata Tent, offering a stimulating and engaging weekend of fun for children, ranging from author events to hands-on science workshops and lots in-between.
