Differentiating Instruction with Menus for the Inclusive Classroom: Math offers teachers who have multiple ability levels in one classroom everything they need to create a student-centered learning environment based on appropriate choice. The book provides numerous types of leveled menus that elementary-aged students can use to select exciting products to demonstrate learning. The reproducible menus in the book address topics such as operations, fractions, probability and statistics, geometry, measurement, and problem-solving. Menus with similar formats but geared toward varying ability levels allow teachers to differentiate easily. Using the creative and challenging choices found in Tic-Tac-Toe Menus, List Menus, 2-5-8 Menus, and Game Show Menus, students will look forward to sharing their newfound knowledge throughout the year. This book gives an easy explanation of how to effectively use menus in the differentiated classroom. There are plenty of activities to choose from for all levels. Some activities are not realistic for matching my states gle's but activities are easily adaptable. The book has inspired me to use menus in other areas of instruction including science and l.a.

Overall, the book has good ideas and a great introduction to a truly differentiated classroom. ( )

Grade 3-5 Math Activities with Accommodations

***
Chapters 1-4 explains menus, how to use menus in the inclusive classroom, guidelines for products and rubrics. The remaining five chapters provide projects and worksheets to be used in lesson plans for whole numbers and operations, fractions, probability and statistics, geometry, and measurement. Each menu page (activity) includes an introduction, content menu, guidelines, and activities. Symbols are used to indicate lower and middle-level contact to be able to easily adapt the activities to student skill level. Reproducible rating sheets and practicable inexpensive math activities encompass two-thirds of the book. The book includes a list of references and resources. ( )

This book has been a great tool to share with teachers. Easy, but not low quality ways to get at the heat of supporting students at multiple levels. I would recommend this for new teachers or those who develop teachers. Really lays out the basics. If only it came digitally so that things could be edited for the specifics of your classroom. ( )

A wealth of ideas to utilize menus in the classroom. The menus included in the book can be copied and used without having to be "tweaked". They can also be used as a starting off point to create a more customized menu to fit your needs, classroom make-up, and curriculum. The description of the different types of menus along with the details of how and when to use them in the beginning of the book is very helpful. I can't wait to try out some menus in my classroom!
