The first reason was for the characters. For the most part, they were the classic tortoise and hare from the age old story. These characters, however, surprise the reader at the end by both attaining the outcome they desired from the race. I also enjoyed the illustrations a lot. Their painted style was vibrant, and really lent themselves to the story. This books big picture was of friendship. In the end, it didn't matter who won the race, only that both the tortoise and the hare had gained a friend. In the well-known tale of "The Tortoise and the Hare," everyone remembers that "slow and steady wins the race"--or does it? In this energetic retelling of a favorite fable, it's the speedy Hare who crosses the finish line first, but it's Tortoise who has the tale to tell when he discovers that the race, not the winning, is what matters most. Slade Morrison and his mother continue their series of picture books confounding Aesop and rewriting the fables with new morals. In this tale the speedy hare and the studious tortoise work together to produce an event in which they both win. Joe Cepeda’s brilliant animal caricatures in oil with their ever changing contrasting backgrounds speed this clever tale along. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Jamey Tortoise is smarter than anyone else and Jimi Hare is faster, but when a race is announced each consults a reporter about how to get what he really wants when and if he should win in this updated twist on the familiar fable. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
