This book explains the deep stuff you have to get into to be a Chicago Ganster! The fact that your brother could be a cop and you are a ganster could get you into some serious crap. This book is telling you things you would have to do to be a Chicago Ganster. Like, you have to get into a squad so you would't die. Also If your brother was a policemen, you would want your gang knowing.

You Wouldn't want to be a Chicago Gangster is an amazing non-fiction book. It is a kid/tween friendly way to learn about Chicago in it's early days. It starts off with you and your bother have are living to Chicago and are both looking for a job. You both sign up as police officers and get the job. But, you are undercover and your bother patrols the streets. You have to join a gang and get evidence of what they are doing, then report it to your bother. You join a gang and start taking evidence. As the weeks/months go on you work your way up through the ranks. Once you collected enough evidence you report it to the police and the gang is throw in jail.
This book is a great way to learn about the way Chicago was in the 1920's. The author and illustrator do a great job of drawing and writing this book. The pictures keep you interested. The add little fun facts in the side which is a neat touch. I like the way they wrote it so it seems like you are the one who is undercover. Overall this book is a great non-fiction book for kids. ( )

The book was just okay. It gave some facts about gangsters in Chicago but was not very informative. I am sure that is because of the intended age of the audience.
