This series is below a 'level one' in the beginning reading section, meaning that it's for pre-readers. These are so good they make me want to write a love letter to Cynthia Rylant. Since I have a not-even-three-year-old who is already showing lots of interest in memorizing sight words (I think he's going to take after his mama and be an early reader), the controlled, repeated vocab in these is just perfect. Bonus, it's about a big puppy. ( )

When Mudge's blanket gets lost, Mudge uses his nose to find it.

Henry's puppy, Mudge, loves his blanket. Mudge takes his blanket everywhere he goes. One day, Mudge can't find his blanket. With Henry's help, Mudge looks all over for his blanket. In the end, his sense of smell proves to be a valuable thing because it brings him back to his blanket again. ( )

Mudge is Henry's dog. Mudge loves his little green blanket. He brings his little blanket every where he goes! At times when he cant find it, it is up to henry to help him find or else Mudge may never go to sleep! This is a really cute book. It is great for a beginners book because it is full of big font, and has very short sentences. Definitely a book I would enjoy reading to my son. ( )

Z loved this . . . simple vocab as he struggles through the early stages of reading, but a cute and funny story compared to some of the other early readers we've slogged through. ( )
