Grace is talented, charming, quick witted, and way in over her head! Forget Ryan Gosling - give me Jack any day! ( ) Charming, funny, adorable. The only problem was that Grace and Jack are constantly quipping, they never have a normal non-jokey conversation. I love banter, but if the only time you drop the banter is during sex play (and often not then) it gets exhausting and it means you are not actually communicating. Also, Jack constantly talks about how he loves Grace's intelligence or sense of humor or singing, or whatever in addition to her body, Grace never says anything until the last 20 pages or so about Jack other than how pretty he is. He demonstrates that he is fantastic, thoughtful and patient and funny and lovely, but she never talks about anything but the pretty. That total objectification was a bit unappealing. Overall I really had fun with this one though. My first Alice Clayton, but trust that I will be moving on to book 2 in the series soon. This one is a re-read, mostly because I read another book with a very similar plot and characters. It held up very well and is still very funny. Grace and Jack are wonderful characters, perfect for each other, and Ms. Clayton does a great job of showing this, despite their many differences. The other book I read ends on a cliffhanger, like this one, but never goes on to resolve the story as this one does in the sequels. It ruined the book for me (the other one), and I re-read this to reassure myself I wasn't imagining how this one is so much better. So disappointed! There really wasn't even a story here. Guy meets girl, they both act so damn immature and then screw basically through the entire book. I thought this would be better since it got great reviews and the fact that I loved Wallbanger from this author. I don't even think I'll bother with the other two books. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
