The second collection of photographs from International Garden Photographer of the Year is as good if not better than the first collection. Over 200 photographs in various categories display a wide range of subject and treatment.

The technical standard of the photography is excellent, and while there are the obligatory "arty" shots, what I particularly like is that in the majority of the photographs the photography does not get in the way of the subject, but rather enhances it. Put it another way the photography adds to our appreciation of the subject, be it a garden view or a close up of a flower, the photograph is not an end in itself. (By way of comparison the sister Landscape Photographer of the Year has rather too many "clever" shots and far too few true landscapes)

It is also very encouraging to see the excellent entires in the Young Photographer section, any of which could comfortable hold its own against the adults.
