( ) When Julia, Lady Yardley, uses Aidan, the Duke of Trathen, as a pawn to divorce her husband, he's pretty certain he wants nothing to do with her. Lady Yardley has come to much the same conclusion about the Duke. But when he enlists Julia to help him find a wife, the last thing he expects is to actually find the woman he wants to marry. The characters are funny and engaging, and Guhrke uses her book to make strong statements about women and life in England in the early 20th century.
Amy R. / Marathon County Public Library I liked this one even better than the first in the series, The Wedding of the Season. It took two characters from the first book, Julia and Adian (the "abandoned at the altar" groom), and really brought them to life. Reading the first novel, you could definitely feel the tension between the two, and this book really makes the reader see what has gone on between the two of them, both in the distant and not-so-distant past. Julia becomes much more than Trix's embittered cousin, and Adian becomes much more human. Characters from Guhrke's other series, the Girl-Bachelors, also make cameo appearances, which adds to the fun. Can't wait to see more in this series! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

"One tryst was all she wanted...From their very first meeting, Julia knew that Aidan Carr, the oh-so-proper Duke of Trathen, had a bit of the devil in him, a devil who secretly yearned for what he could not have, a devil who harbored a desire for her. So when she needed to be caught in a compromising situation, Aidan was the answer to her prayers. One tryst just wasn't enough...Aidan is supposed to be looking for a bride, yet his scandalous liaison with Julia is all he can think about. Hot, erotic memories of kissing her skin, falling into her bed, pulling her naked body on top of his own continue to torment and tempt him. What is it about this brazen seductress that he finds so hard to resist? And how can he stop himself from falling into her bed a second time?"--P. [4] of cover.
