( ) I don’t know why I am only just now getting around to this book. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Loved the Duke. I will say having just reread These Old Shades by Georgette Heyer, I see the influence of the Duke of Avon in the Duke of Falconbridge. And it was lovely to see. The heroine did hold on to her love for the other man a bit too long but honestly the story took place in such a short period of time that it was pretty realistic that it would not be instant. I liked the beginning of it,the peculiar miss and the cynical duke was a good setup but then things went downhill. The h kept on talking about a character thats heavily involved in the set-up of the plot, but shes never made out to be a real person or as the heroine claims one of her closest friend. And then theres the guy the heroine has a crush on...I couldnt quite figure out how she could have feelings(or how the reader could understand why) since from the beginning hes made out to be pretty bland and flat, with no character what so ever. Then the book took a strange turn... I found the I love the May/December romances but things came awfully close to crossing over into icky, due to some conversation the H and h had after ..er...consumating their relationship. So in all-an ok read, not good, not bad..it just is. Some books stay in your mind long after youve read a book, this is so generic Id mostly forgot it by the time I finished. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

For years, he's been an object of fear, fascination . . . and fantasy. But of all the wicked rumors that shadow the formidable Alexander Moncrieffe, Duke of Falconbridge, the ton knows one thing for certain: only fools dare cross him. And when Ian Eversea does just that, Moncrieffe knows the perfect revenge: he'll seduce Ian's innocent sister, Genevieve-the only Eversea as yet untouched by scandal. First he'll capture her heart . . . and then he'll break it. But everything about Genevieve is unexpected: the passion simmering beneath her cool control, the sharp wit tempered by gentleness . . . and though Genevieve has heard the whispers about the duke's dark past, and knows she trifles with him at her peril, one incendiary kiss tempts her deeper into a world of extraordinary sensuality. Until Genevieve is faced with a fateful choice . . . is there anything she won't do for a duke? Contains mature themes. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
