Me gusto mucho , cortita sin trampas y con un lindo desarrollo, aparece un aparente suicida en 3 pinos y gamache debe investigar. ( ) Thus far all of my Louise Penny experience has been with audio books...and the TV adaptation. This novella is the basis for one of the episodes, with a few significant changes that don't really seem to serve any purpose. That doesn't really matter to me one way or another, Armand solved the case in both versions. However, all thru reading this book I had the sense that it just didn't "seem right." Something about the words simply didn't ring thru. Perhaps the shortened format changed the rhythm of Penny's writing? Or perhaps I don't enjoy the "sound," of my own voice reading as much as I like the audio presenter? Did the TV version corrupt my expectations? I will be quite disappointed if this feeling of "almost but not quite," persists when I read the next full length book, which for me will be #11 The Long Way Home. Feb. 2023 reread: No changes in my previous opinion. ---- This novella (which apparently fits in after [b:Bury Your Dead|7945049|Bury Your Dead (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, #6)|Louise Penny|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1439067695l/7945049._SY75_.jpg|11453665]) was a nice interlude with the Three Pines folks. This would be a decent introduction to the series as it doesn't include any of the ongoing story lines but does manage to introduce many of the recurring characters (although interestingly not the Morrows). The Hangman - Penny 4 stars ”People rich in money might belong at the Inn and Spa, but those rich in other ways belonged in the tiny village of Three Pines. Here, kindness was the real currency.” An apparent suicide in Three Pines is clearly a murder. And, naturally the victim belonged at the Inn and Spa. This was a good short story visit with familiar characters. A bit of a twist at the end made it a good mystery. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Onderdeel van de reeks(en)Chief Inspector Armand Gamache (6.5, novella)
On a cold November morning, a jogger runs through the woods in the peaceful Quebec village of Three Pines. On his run, he finds a dead man hanging from a tree. The dead man was a guest at the local Inn and Spa. He might have been looking for peace and quiet, but something else found him. Something horrible. Did the man take his own life? Or was he murdered? Chief Inspector Armand Gamache is called to the crime scene. As Gamache follows the trail of clues, he opens a door into the past. And he learns the true reason why the man came to Three Pines.
