I just couldn't get into this book. The heroine was whiny and self-absorbed. I couldn't get past her personality issues. ( )

When her dad loses his job he moves the family in with his father on a small farm. While her dad continues to look for work and her mother continues to overspend and bemoan their current existence, Irene finds new friends, bonds with her grandfather and proves to be the one most able to grow and adapt to the changes in their lives. I read the novel Everything I was, by Corinne Demas. This novel was about a young girl(13 years old) Irene who's life takes a turn for change. Irene is not living like most teenagers. She doesn't go through the struggles as what most teenagers do, such as dealing with the frustration of having little control of their lives. Irene's major frustrations tend to stay on, what she will do over her boring summer with no friends around. Seeing like Irene's going through a lot, things start to take a turn for the better for Irene. This is an excellent book especially for teens, Corinne Demas does a great job with welcoming characters and the problems in the book it helps to relate to their situations. This book deals with many themes, such as dealing with emotions, young romance, good friendships, home life, and all the changes that come to a newly welcomed person in a new town or somewhere one is not comfortable in. This book is a good recommendation to teenage females and even adults but anyone could get into it the way the author uses great writing skills. ( )

Irene a young girl had everything ripped from her walls. Getting ready to move. She was going upper west. Her dad had lost his job. Irene was scared that she wasn't going to fit in. She ends up having to move into her grandfathers house. Irene ends up in a tough decision. But she has to choose.
This book was pretty good book. I hope most people read it. I'm glad i read this book. It wasn't the best book to me. But other people may like it. Some of us could relate to this book. You can learn that being in a tough situation can become a good thing. I definitely leaned from this book. ( )
