I read all of Paul Zindel's books when I was a tween and teen back in the 70s. This book was written when I was an adult so never knew about it until I did an active search on all his books.

This book is very different to what he wrote in the 70s, I did not even think he would write a horror story, but he did and I enjoyed it.

Sorry to say I wish the ending was more like ' The Rats ', written by an English author whose name escapes me now - I prefer when the animals win, if not all the way, almost all the way. ( )

Scariest book ever read (as a teen) until reading The Spook's Apprentice by Joseph Delaney. Imagine the rats in your city have mutated into bloodthirsty predators with ferocious appetites. After multiplying by the thousands they begin to pour out of every outlet they find, attacking all humans in their path. You don't even have to turn the lights out to tremble. Just follow the trail of body parts they leave in their wake as you race to a finale that may just have you regurgitating your last meal.

an awsome book. some pretty intricate details that would make your hair curl. its about these rats that overpopullated in the dump. they then come to the city and eat people. they all have to try to stop them before everybody is dead. ( )
