I liked the elephant expressions. My favorite line was, "Of course, if you just want to impress the neighbors with a quick circus, then the right number of elephants is 5." Because who wouldn't want to impress the neighbors with a quick circus? ( ) This is a silly book about "the right number" of elephants. It doesn't make much sense. There is no logic to it, but it is funny. Through out the book the reader is told "X" is too many elephants, nut "Y" is just right, without any explanation. The teacher and reader can count the elephants on each page as number recognition practice. I liked this book for two reasons. First, I liked how it was pretty different from most children's books for three reasons: it chose numbers where most books are on the alphabet, it counted backwards, and it did not rhyme. It had a Laura Numeroff style when it repeated the if/then statements that she is famous for using. For example, "but if you just mean to paint the ceiling and there isn't a ladder to be found, then the right number of elephants is..." I also liked how the book was paced. It starts off crazy with all ten elephants and then slows down to a calm with only one elephant. The main idea of this book was to teach number recognition. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
