Lydia and Julie have always been best friends. They focus on learning about popularity before heading to school. Unfortunately, Lydia is moving to London for 6 months. Now the girls face middle school on their own. They keep in touch and discuss their troubles, bullies, and standing up for themselves at school. They do this in their journals and lists to one another, until Lydia gets back home. The moral of the story is that friendships can last even when you're apart from one another. It teaches students that even if one of their friends are moving, they can continue to keep in touch and be friends. This is done through their notebook.
