This book uses a lot of repetition and incorporates several different popular fairy tales but adds a twist to them. For example, The part about Cinderella says, "Fairy godmother? Yes. Pumpkin coach? Yes. Glass slipper? Yes. Disco ball? No.", and each story ends with a "well, maybe" and an illustration incorporating the object that wasn't in the original story. I thought this was a very cute book that changed up all of the well known fairy tales. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

It's kinda too bad these are all European tales, but at least the mother and child could be Hispanic, and the child could be boy or girl. And I did really like some of the details, for example the fairy godmother's disco costume. One detail I didn't like is that Hansel and Gretel were plump - whereas the point of the original is that the family had been starving.
It's a fun book I could imagine sharing with a child about age 4 over and over again, but I can't quite widely recommend. Maybe 3.5 stars. ( )
