I'm not sure I agree with the other reviewers who say that the child reader needs to be familiar with all the original tales first. The juxtaposition of old-fashioned and modern is funny enough unto itself. Maybe this could be shared first, since the text is so very simple and minimalist, and then the children could read the originals of the tales they didn't recognize.

It's kinda too bad these are all European tales, but at least the mother and child could be Hispanic, and the child could be boy or girl. And I did really like some of the details, for example the fairy godmother's disco costume. One detail I didn't like is that Hansel and Gretel were plump - whereas the point of the original is that the family had been starving.

It's a fun book I could imagine sharing with a child about age 4 over and over again, but I can't quite widely recommend. Maybe 3.5 stars. ( )

This book uses a lot of repetition and incorporates several different popular fairy tales but adds a twist to them. For example, The part about Cinderella says, "Fairy godmother? Yes. Pumpkin coach? Yes. Glass slipper? Yes. Disco ball? No.", and each story ends with a "well, maybe" and an illustration incorporating the object that wasn't in the original story. I thought this was a very cute book that changed up all of the well known fairy tales. ( )

This book Fairly tales was about different stories such as little red robin hood, three little bears, Cinderella, etc. The purpose of this book is just to entertain the students with different fun stories. ( )

this is a pretty neat book with quick and simple fairy tales. I actually did not like it all to much, but my son liked it a great deal, so that makes it all right by me. the book dives right into the most basic spare details of each fairy tale with a simple, repetitive scaffold. ( )
