Cute story. The book jacket may make you think of the movie The Holiday, but the women don't just switch houses they switch lives.

Vicky and Amber are both 35.
Vicky is tired of being single. She wants a husband and kids.
Amber has been married to her college sweetheart for years and they have two kids together. Amber grew up poor and now she's very wealthy. She lives in a big house, with household help, she's a stay at home mom who spends more time doing charity work then she does with her kids.
Amber feels she has lost herself and isn't sure she likes her life (although she does definitely love her husband and her kids).

They decide to switch houses for a month, making a pretty big commitment to living each other's lives. They hang out with the other one's friends, wear their clothes and try to emulate their day to day life.

Will they still think the grass is greener? Or will they become happier with their own circumstances? ( )

I'll never get the time I spent on this book back. Severely in need of a good editor. ( )

Finished reading this on December 16th.

This was a nice and enjoyable book. One of the few chick lit writers I really enjoy, not one book but nearly all, if not all.

I normally read a lot of depressing books so I am always happy to find a chick lit book I'd like.

The attraction between the partners of the 2 women, could have been left out, but overall, a nice read. thanks

Is the grass always greener on the other side? In this witty comedy, two women question whether their lifestyle is truly what they want. On one side of the world, Vicky is living the single life dream; features director of POISE magazine, no obligations to a husband or children, unless you count her cat Eartha, is free to do what she wants whenever she wants. On the other side of the world you have Amber living the married dream; has the beautiful mansion (pool included), the beautiful wardrobe, the perfect husband, the children, the nanny, the housekeepers. Why is it we always want what other people have? This book just goes to show that appearances aren't everything. Things can look perfect on the outside, but inner workings are usually a lot more deep seeded than anyone could ever imagine. When Vicky suggests Swapping Lives, the editor of POISE thinks it's a smashing idea, and the magazine runs an add looking for women to switch lives with. Amber is one of the women to respond, and of course because she lives in America, and Vicky in London, it makes it all the more enticing to pick the American. When the women switch, it leads to epiphany after epiphany as to how their lives weren't so bad after all. If this book proves anything, it's to take care of your own grass, and not worry about what's on the other side of the fence. ( )

A nice, light, enjoyable read. A little redundant at times, particularly in the beginning; but once you get to the actual swap and the epiphanies start coming, it wraps up rather nicely. ( )
