Well it is very Orthodox. Makes a lot of sense though if truth be told. Maybe I am much more Orthodox than I thought.

This is a wonderful reference for those interested in returning to an observant Jewish lifestyle (Baal Teshuva), or someone considering a halachic Orthodox conversion. Rabbi Donin covers all the major topics and issues. Donin's 'To pray as a Jew" book, is a great book to use along side this one. ( )

A nice, cover-all-the-bases type book about Juadaism. It doesn't get into anything terribly deep, but it breaks down a lot of essentials, like what exactly you are and aren't supposed to do on the Sabbath, what Purim is, etc. I wanted a very basic introduction, and so I was very pleased with this. If Donin had gone into more detail, I think I would've been annoyed since he doesn't seem to be ok with things like inter-marriage and female rabbis and homosexuality. ( )

In feeling useful and needed, man finds his happiness.
(Maimonides’) advice, as useful today as it was then, was that it is therefore particularly important “to associate with good and wise men...and shun wrongdoers that one may not be influenced by their ways.” (Hil Deot 6:1)
To inspire and bring others to give tzedakah is a great virtue and merits an even greater reward than that of the donor. Of those who do this it is written “Those who turn  the many to righteousness shall be like the stars.” (Daniel 12:3)
