A rather lackluster collection of stories by some of Ireland's best known female writers (Maeve Binchy, Patricia Scanlon, Marita Conlon-McKenna, etc.). ( ) oh my goodness - over al this book was pretty terrible - there is a run of about 8 stories in the middle that are just too terrible - the one upside was that it really gave me some hope that I could be a published author if this is what the best of Ireland is writing. there are maybe 2 or 3 stories that I thought were solid and I will be taking note of their authors - but it was not really worth the pain of slogging through all the other stories. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
In this hugely enjoyable anthology, established bestselling Irish writers have joined forces with up-and-coming new stars to raise money for a very good cause. Poignant, provocative, hilarious and heartwarming in turn, this varied and memorable collection includes never-before-published stories from Patricia Scanlan, Julie Parsons, Deirdre Purcell, Sarah Webb, Cecilia Ahern, Morag Prunty, Marita Conlon-McKenna, Martina Devlin, Gemma O'Connor, Joan O'Neill, Annie Sparrow, Una Brankin, Aine Greaney, Suzanne Higgins, Tina Reilly, Catherine Foley, Claire Dowling and Rosaleen Linehan. £1 from every copy sold will be divided between Barnardo's children's charity and the St Vincent de Paul Society in Ireland.
