In this story, Gilbert is a lonely goldfish who longs to have a new friend. His owners bring many friends by, including a dog, cat, and mouse, but none of these pets are a good match for Gilbert. This book showcases his adventure in finding a suitable pet. I liked this book because it had a fun and rhythmic prose that would gain children's interests and help them to want to continue to read. For example, "Sometimes Gilbert imagined his pet would have fur. Or feathers. Or floppy ears. But everyday and always, Gilbert imagined what it would be like to have a pet to care for a love." As you can see, the text flows very easily and naturally. While this story does not necessarily have a meaning, it is still a good book for children to read as it will help improve literacy skills. This book is about a goldfish who wants a pet of his own. Every time he thinks that he has a new pet, the pet either runs away or gets smashed. Gilbert the goldfish eventually gets the pet that he has always wanted. I could use this book to teach kids that not every pet is the best pet for a person. And to find the perfect pet takes time. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
Gilbert has everything a goldfish could want except a pet of his own, but none of the animals who come near his fishbowl seem quite right until Fluffy, with his long tail and whiskers, appears. Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |

Yes it is tongue in cheek. The ending you think Gilbert is going to get eaten but he doesn't. Yet, I don't know, I still did not like the book. I don't think kids will fully wrap their heads around it. ( )
