I previously had read Mimi Latt's Ultimate Justice and really enjoyed it so went back and bought her first two books, this one, Powers of Attorney is her first book.

The story follows three female attorneys and one murder case, it started off slowly however once the murder had taken place the intrigue and subplots took off and it became an enjoyable read. Some murder-mysteries reflect mundane life, others are too fanciful to be anything but fiction - this one was somewhere in between, certainly not a mundane case but verging on the fanciful territory all things said and done.

There's several unexpected revelations towards the end of the book and the eventual culprit isn't entirely obvious until near the end - lots of murky circumstances like real life.

One thing to note is the book does contain quite a few sex scenes, not to the point of an erotic novel - they are only isolated scenes, but nonetheless it does make the book not so suitable for younger readers. However I guess younger readers probably wouldn't have much interest in a legal mystery novel anyway. ( )
