Coffin Man was a fun read. I had the mystery figured out before the end of the novel, but the characters were so interesting, I didn't mind. This is a series I plan to add to my reading list. ( )

Miss Daisy works hard to make Charlie Moon's life difficult, and he reciprocates with his friend, the police chief. A family dispute ends in a shootout, then everyone goes missing. It is a puzzle for the sleuths until a body with a bullet hole is found on an island and Charley sorts it out. Always quirky characters in an interesting setting make this series a light but a fun read. ( )

While I liked this Charlie Moon story, I felt the narrative style was a bit overdone. I'd like to see Mr. Does return to his earlier focus on Charlie and the Ute customs. It seems like Aunt Daisy is the main character in the last few volumes. ( )

I'm very disappointed in the latest of the Shaman/Aunt Daisy series......

The arrogant, oh-so-smart-aleck-clever play with words & cliff-hanger chapter endings...and just total disjointed story line was too much. In fact, I was bored... This book took me over 2 weeks to read, and I am usually so caught up in his stories that I read them in 2-3 days tops.

So let's see if I can make some sense:
1st: Betty Naranjo is pretty sure to be pregnant by her mother's (Wanda Naranjo) boyfriend Mike.
2nd: Wanda kicks the no-good-low-down cheating boyfriend, Mike, out & shoots at him.
3rd: Betty disappears on a stormy day while off to visit her school counselor.
4th: The Granite Creek Cemetery groundskeeper gets up in the middle of the night to check out the noises he hears
5th: Same grounds keeper is found dead the next morning in his cabin, with his gold pocketwatch & $5 gold-piece fob missing
6th: Shaman Aunt Daisy has young ward Sarah drop her off at the cemetery and she hears voices talking to her... asking for help (she assumes this to be a ghost).
7th: While waiting for Aunt Daisy, Sarah Frank meets a Black Sheep in the park.
8th: Wanda Naranjo goes off to kill Mike & find her daughter, but she too disappears.
9th: All this time Sheriff Scott Parris & his Special Deputy Charlie Moon are investigating the disappearances & the murder.......
10th: something fishy is going on with the school counselor & his domineering-take-charge-butt-her-nose-in wife.

Because the story is disjointed, nothing makes sense, nothing comes together in a cohesive, smooth reading story..... And I just Plain-DID-NOT-Like This Book! ( )
