Interesting book. A nice mix of empowered female characters. However it seems to fall right into the common problem of many books about women in the single world. It pushes the idea that women are incomplete with out a significant other. It also makes a few points about how women fall for the guy who will break their heart and still want to stay with him. Overall it was a good quick read and not bad if you want something not too engaging. ( )

Chick lit for the middle ages. Friendships, divorce, widowhood, professional life, finding a man - it's all covered. All ends well. ( )

The title of the book got me. I like a little humor in the title.

This is a little story about a 54 year old wife who finds out her husband of 26 years, Stan, is in love with Brad the decorator of their new beach house on the shore, And so we're off on an adventure to get gynecologist Gwyn Berke back on her feet. The storyline is ineresting enough, including a back story on Dr. Berke's father who has Alzheimers, her ongoing support from two good friends - one of whom develops cancer; and an adventure in revenge (which has nothing to do with her former husband).

The story of menopause eerily shadowed an Oprah (2009) show about menopause issues. I was happy to note that My Favorite Midlife Crisis (Yet) was written in 2006, three years ahead of the Oprah show with (sigh) Robin McGraw and "The Wisdom of Menopause" author Christiane Northrup (great book). I get so tired of authors bringing up Oprah, or tying their work to Oprah. This was just happy coincidence.

Will this book change your life? No. But it's a good weekend read with some sweet moments. ( )
