An instruction book for bullying mixed with the journal of the kid who is bullied. I've heard this described as "chilling" a lot and it's true. ( ) This novel tells how being bullied changes a life. Eric starts school expecting a normal school year. One of his best friends has joined a group of mean guys and joins them in bullying him. He quickly discovers that he is the chosen one. There's a book. In this book, it tells the kids how to pick a "grunt" (person to be bullied) and then step-by-step instructions on bullying him. It's like group thinking--where people follow along because they're with a group instead of thinking for themselves. This group of guys start making fun of a kid--in this case, it's Eric. Others laugh and join in. This activity begins to separate him from other people. Over time, the kid begins to feel bad about himself. Eric decides to research what's going on when he learns that he is the "grunt." As he interviews and looks into the past few years, he becomes more and more isolated. As the book progresses, the bullying progresses and his research progresses. It's finally at the end when you discover how the book came about and the lesson Eric learns. It's the lesson that all kids need to know. It's a short book that really has a positive message. This is the Bully Book: it is a based-on-true-story kind of book about a kid named Eric Haskins and his terrible 6th Grade year. First his friend from 5th grade Donovan doesn't show up for a while then appears very different than last year with Eric. Then this boy named Jason "Crazypants" (Thats what Eric calls him) starts calling him "Grunt" and forms a group called "The Evil Three" (Again what Eric calls them). Later he finds out about a Book they call the "Bully Book" but they just call it "The Book" at times. After that Eric is on a mission to find this book and understand why they chose him to be "The Grunt". His whole class except Melody (Eric's best friend) turns against him and sides with "The Evil Three". After that Melody started dating Jason and apparently did it for Eric "The reason I am dating him is to stop him from teasing you to the price of dating me is to not be mean to you". Too bad that didn't work out for Eric, it kind of made it worse. Will Eric be able to find the book and put an end to this drama?... This Book was amazing. As soon as I got my hands on it in Mr. Poppe's class i couldn't stop reading it! Every day in seminar i pick up that book from to that shelf to read this amazing book. At first I felt like this was just a bunch of 6th grade little kid drama. Then I continued reading and the "Bully Bookers" were actually spreading from grade to grade (6th to 12th). At the end I was very relived to know that Eric got a happy ending. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
