There are all kinds of fun facts including how snowflakes form and exciting activities people can do in the snow. This book has real information with illustrations that interest young children. A great resource for talking about weather, seasons, and most certainly SNOW! Ages: 3-8 Source: Personal Collection The genre of this book is informational. For students interested in the weather, this is a great book filled with easy-to-understand facts and details about all types of snow and snowflakes. The illustrations make it fun and help make it easier to understand and grasp the concepts. This book would be appropriate for early elementary students. I liked the book “It’s Snowing” by Gail Gibbons for two reasons. First, the illustrations are informational and easy to understand. For example, the diagram showing why snow falls very clearly shows the water cycle with definitions next to each picture. The illustrations clearly help students understand the text better. Second, while the book is informational it is also engaging for students. They show pictures and text with snow falling in different places such as South America, and Australia. The students are able to relate to the snow that falls around them, and also see places they may have traveled to before. The big idea of the story “It’s Snowing” is how and why snow falls in the wintertime. geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe

Gail Gibbons uses "It's Snowing" to teach us about snow. She begins by explaining to us what snow is and how it is formed. Shen then follows up by explaining to us the dangerous and fun facts about snow.
