Reading notes
"I've been thinking; he's an alien, so every so often - "
"I know," she said, "Report to the police. I know all about alien regulations; I went through it all in the past when your mother had foreign maids."
The wife in the selfish couple is called Karen, and she definitely wants to speak to the manager, lol.
Yet again I'm surprised by Elizabeth Cadell's forward-thinking attitudes, and how she portrays those through her complex characterisations (no outright baddies or goodies, just human beings). In this novel it's colonialism/anti-colonialism (English, not Portuguese). ( )
