When I picked this up I actually didn't realize it was Sailor V instead of Sailor Moon. To be honest I was thoroughly disappointed by how similar they were. V is practically the same exact girl with the same looks, habits, and personality. I get that it's a prequel and all, but if you'r going to publish a manga, you could at least make it a little bit different? Her friend Hikaru looks exactly like Sailor Mercury and even the otaku nerd is the same. The plot wasn't very interesting either. The same exact thing happened EVERY chapter. ( ) This prequel to Sailor Moon is goofy and silly but lots of fun. I especially liked the police chief who is a closet Sailor V fan. A lot of the villains are typical and non-distinctive from each other but they end up adding to the fun. Plus, the splash pages/chapter art are rather gorgeous. A good few Sailor Moon characters show up in this as well. I can only hope that as the series progresses, its connections to the main BSSM series will deepen; still, it's a good read and Minako is the kind of spunky, fearless heroine readers love in mahou shojo (magical girl) manga. I didn't know this prequel series to Sailor Moon existed until many years after I was sucked into the fandom. As a massive Sailor Moon fan, I NEEDED to read it. It's very clear that it was created before Sailor Moon - the art style isn't as clean, there are a LOT of characters that are VERY similar to those in Sailor Moon, and many of the story elements are in the same vein. This wasn't as good as I had hoped, mainly because of the repetitive storylines in such a brief series, but considering it was created and published by a 14 year-old, it's also an astonishing piece of work. Definitely recommended for any avid Sailor Moon fans who want to get a little bit more of the origin story. A book series completely about Sailor V (Venus) and how she and Artemis met and started fighting the enemy. I like that she starts out very similar to Sailor Moon but she has her own personality. Very interesting to see some of the characters from the Sailor Moon series (like Usagi) in this series as well. I love these! geen besprekingen | voeg een bespreking toe
