Rug hooking is both an art and a craft where rugs are made by pulling loops of yarn or fabric through a stiff woven base such as burlap, linen, or rug warp. The loops are pulled through the backing material by using a crochet-type hook mounted in a handle (usually wood) for leverage. In contrast latch-hooking uses a hinged hook to form a knotted pile from short, pre-cut pieces of yarn. A craftsperson creates a hooked rug by pulling lengths of cloth, usually wool, through a woven fabric. In this book you will learn: * Design elements every rug hooker should know * How to develop an appealing design * Lessons on colour and contrast, balance and movement * Texture and patterning as design tools * Free pattern pullout * Rug gallery AUTHOR: Susan L. Feller is internationally known as a fibre artist and teacher. She teaches at rug hooking workshops and schools around the country and in her home studio in Augusta, West Virginia. A frequent contributor to Rug Hooking Magazine, she serves on the executive board of national and international rug hooking associations ATHA and TIGHR. ILLUSTRATIONS: 120 colour photographs * Geen bibliotheekbeschrijvingen gevonden. |
